University of the Potomac is pleased to offer the Good Hope Scholarship to support the educational aspirations of disadvantaged youth within the Washington Metropolitan Area. This endeavor advocates affordable excellence and strives to bridge the educational achievement gap and eliminate disparities in the District’s Ward 7 and 8.

Good Hope Scholarship recipients will receive $1,000 per year for their studies at the University of the Potomac. The award will be applied toward costs not covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Anyone can apply – at any time – by following the application process outlined below. Submissions will be accepted on a year-long rolling basis.

To apply for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • Write and submit an essay on volunteering/supporting Ward 7 and 8 now or in the future, and why this is important.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation verifying; (a) support or volunteer actions in Ward 7 and/or 8 or (b) an offer letter of hire promising an internship, practicum, or mentoring opportunity in Ward 7 and/or 8 for a minimum of 40 hours per annual $1,000 scholarship.
  • Interview with an Officer of Admissions to review essay and recommendation.

With beliefs founded in providing valuable education and ensuring those opportunities are accessible to all who have the desire and will to achieve, this effort will focus on fostering hope within low-income communities by providing financial aid for quality higher education programs provided by the University of the Potomac.
